Hiring out your caravan or motorhome through Camplify is a fantastic way to earn a bit of extra cash, helping to pay off your investment quicker or pay for your next big touring holiday.

Keeping your RV impeccably clean and well-presented is crucial if you want great reviews and happy, returning customers. This handy guide covers everything you need to know about preparing your RV and listing it for hire on Camplify.

Providing the Essentials

If your RV has a kitchen/kitchenette, it is a good idea to provide some basic amenities like a kettle, cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. To ensure nothing gets lost or taken from your caravan, create a checklist of all removable items so you can account for everything at the end of each hire.

An extra blanket/duvet and one or two extra pillows is always a good idea if you have the space. If your RV has a washroom, towels are also recommended. If you want your pride and joy returned to you in good condition, then be sure to provide all necessary cleaning products including sponges, cloths, a dustpan & broom, detergent, etc.

In case of emergencies, compile a list of phone numbers including your own number (just in case they lose their phone), local emergency numbers, and the caravan site operator. A fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket is recommended in all caravans and motorhomes. Make sure they are within the expiry date and easily accessible.

Caravan Cleaning Checklist

Caravan Carpets Oxford

  • Wash bed linen and any towels in between each guest

  • Vacuum couches and cushions

  • Shake dust and dirt from outdoor chairs & tables

  • Thoroughly clean the kitchen or camp stove

  • Sweep and mop the floor

  • Clean all windows and window seals

  • Avoid using chemical cleaners on canvas awnings

Note: high pressure washers are great for cleaning around the tyres and other non-sensitive areas, yet try to avoid using them around window seals and other delicate areas of the RV

Sometimes you might be too busy to clean and prepare your RV in between renters, so make sure you arrange for somebody else to do it. If your van will be remaining at the same pitch, the site’s staff may clean it for a small fee.

If your caravan or motorhome has been in storage, especially throughout winter, you might be up for a more thorough clean than usual, including checking and sterilising the water system. You might want to allow a whole day to get everything ship shape and aired out.

Test Everything

Before hiring out your caravan or motorhome, ensure everything that should work, works, especially if you’ve advertised it as a feature. Turn on the water, gas, fridge, microwave, telly, heating, air-con, battery, etc. to check they’re all running smoothly.

If your RV is available for towing and touring, make sure you conduct a thorough check beforehand including the tyres, brakes, lights, and hitch. All motorhomes and campervans should have regular mechanical services and before each hire make sure to check the oil, water, and windscreen.

Personal Touches

The Herald

It’s the little things that make your listing stand out and collect rave reviews from your overjoyed customers. Personal touches like a welcome note, coffee & tea, or a bottle of wine are not necessary, but they go a long way in making your guests feel special.

To help your hirers make the most of their camping holiday, head to your local tourism office and pick up some free pamphlets and maps (grab a whole bunch at a time).

Creating an Amazing Camplify Listing

Camplify makes it incredibly easy to create a listing which includes everything your potential hirers will want to know. After filling in all relevant details about your caravan or motorhome, give your listing its own personal touch with these three top tips:

1. Get Snappy

Great photos can really give your listing a boost. Make sure the pictures are clear and taken with a decent quality camera (most modern smartphones should do). If you’re not very confident with a camera, ask a shutterbug friend or family member to help.

For styling inspiration, have a look at some of the other Camplify listings to see how they’ve presented their RV. Try to show all areas of your van in several photos, demonstrating how it looks completely set up for day & night

2. Give Your RV Personality

Does your caravan or motorhome have a name? It does now! In addition to essential information, sharing a little history around your RV gives it personality and helps your listing stand out from the rest.

3. Boast About Local Attractions

Nobody knows your local area like you do! Give out-of-towners a taste of what they can expect from a static or touring caravan holiday in your county. Personal tips and local advice on the best places to eat, visit, explore, & shop will get potential customers excited about hiring your RV.

Advertising My Caravan For Hire

Sharing your Camplify listing with your Facebook friends is a great way to find new hirers in your local area. You can also ask your friends to share your listing or to tag people who they think might be interested in hiring your RV.

To share, simply visit your listing on Camplify, which you can find by going to the Camplify search page and searching your RV’s listed location. Once you’ve found your listing, make sure you are logged into your personal Facebook page and before clicking on the Facebook “Share” button.

If you are a member of any UK based camping, caravanning, or travel-related groups on Facebook, think about sharing your Camplify listing there. Be sure to check each group’s guidelines beforehand, as some Facebook groups don’t allow promotional posts—we don’t want you getting kicked out of any groups!

Local buy, sell, & swap Facebook groups are also a great idea to get your listing seen by people in your area who are looking for a caravan or motorhome for hire. For even further reach, try sharing your listing on any other relevant social media, or with email contacts whom you think might be interested.

Now that you’re fully armed with all the info you need to prepare and promote your caravan or motorhome for hire, what are you waiting for? Give your pride and joy a nice scrub, snap some great pics and create your Camplify owner’s listing today, to start sharing the caravan love!
